What is the Celebrant USA Foundation and Institute?
The Celebrant USA Foundation & Institute is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to training professional certified Celebrants to officiate at personalized ceremonies marking the milestones and transitions in the lives of individuals, couples, families and organizations such as weddings, renewal of vows, commitments, coming of age, baby welcomings and adoptions, survivor tributes, graduations, retirements, birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, end of life celebrations, new dwellings, civic and corporate events and special occasions – or any moment in life that carries significant meaning for you.
What is a Celebrant?
Celebrants are people in your community who are professionally trained and licensed to perform a variety of ceremonies to mark milestones in your loved ones life. The Celebrant's mission is to create a ceremony that reflects your needs, beliefs, cultural background, values and tastes. There are thousands of Celebrants throughout the world, of all ages and from all walks of life, who have embraced this most personally fulfilling vocation.

How do Celebrants differ from other officiants, such as wedding ministers or justices of the peace?
CelebrantCeremonies are very unique and very personal. Celebrants perform ceremonies for people who are secular, religious, spiritual, nondenominational, part of an interfaith or multicultural couple, or simply wish to express themselves in a manner of their own choosing. In a collaborative process, the Celebrant will guide you in choosing rituals, readings, symbols and music to fulfill your ideals. Your Celebrant will:
- Meet with you at a relaxing interview to discuss your vision of the ceremony.
- Design a custom ceremony based on you and your loved ones.
- Consult with you by phone and email until the ceremony is just right.
- Rehearse the ceremony with you and your party.
- Present you with a beautiful keepsake copy of the ceremony to mark the occasion.
The beliefs of the Celebrant are immaterial in this process. Celebrants believe that appropriate ceremonies are an important way of bringing happiness and mental balance to individuals, and connection and beauty within society. They believe in people. They believe in adding to the sum total of human happiness wherever they can assist in doing so. Celebrants are trained to focus on the values and priorities of the client.

Anyone and everyone! Whether you are secular, religious, spiritual, nondenominational, part of an interfaith or multicultural family, or if you simply wish to express yourself in a manner of your own choosing, a Celebrant can help you create a ceremony that respects all that is meaningful to you.
